Your tasks:
- Interact with a high-performing R&D team to understand system requirements and performance issues of the design to be manufactured
- Work within the product development team to ensure the product’s mechanical design is developed in accordance with specifications and customer requirements, and to schedule
- Initiate and instil rigorous best-practice mechanical development processes for automotive. Drive design optimisation and quality
- Support automotive development processes, with the familiarity of APQP and design validation steps. Take part in and conduct mechanical design reviews and test plans
- Work with contract manufacturing to ensure the design progressively matures in the development process, from cost, manufacturability, and quality perspectives
- Oversee mechanical testing and validation. Perform quick-response troubleshooting, and in-depth RCA, executing corrective actions as needed
- Provide hardware testing support, including designing and building test jigs for optical and functional testing, and end-of-line production tests
Your profile:
- Mechanical or General Engineering, or a related technical degree
- Up to 5 years of experience in developing “high-technology” automotive products from concept design to mass production
- Skilled user of CAD systems (CATIA or Solidworks preferred). Working in PDM/PLM environments expected
- GD&T skills expected. Good knowledge and evidence of designing to very tight tolerances. Creating, reviewing, and approving mechanical drawings.Expert knowledge of materials selection (high-performance plastics, metals) from both cost and performance perspectives

- Familiar with state-of-the-art manufacturing methods (including advanced processes and tooling knowledge). DFM and Lean understanding
- Track record of bringing designs successfully through the automotive development cycle. Familiarity with IATF16949 and APQP processes
- Experience in automotive test and validation procedures and evidence of troubleshooting and finding rapid solutions
- Fluent English language skills
