Cost Engineer (m/f/d) – Fuel Cell Start-Up

Your tasks:
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve cost models for fuel cell systems and components (stack, balance of plant, peripherals)
  • Perform cost analyses across the full product lifecycle (prototype, pre-series, series production)
  • Identify and drive cost optimization initiatives (design-to-cost, make-or-buy decisions, scaling effects)
  • Work closely with R&D, purchasing, production, and suppliers
  • Create should-cost analyses, BOM evaluations, and cost scenarios (e.g. volume ramps, technology roadmaps)
  • Support business cases, pricing strategies, and investment decisions
  • Assess cost implications of new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Establish transparent cost structures, KPIs, and reporting for management and investors
Your profile:
  • University degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a comparable field
  • Several years of experience in cost engineering, ideally in one of the following areas:
    • Fuel cells, hydrogen technologies, batteries, e-mobility, or energy systems
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Manufacturing processes (e.g. assembly, plastics, metal processing, automation)
    • Bills of materials, manufacturing cost structures, CAPEX/OPEX
  • Experience with design-to-cost approaches and industrialization projects
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP/PLM systems is a plus
  • Analytical, structured mindset combined with entrepreneurial thinking
  • Very good English skills; German is a plus but not mandatory
